 #29 - GREAT HIGH PRIEST

"Since then we have a GREAT HIGH PRIEST who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  For we do not have a HIGH PRIEST who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.  Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Jesus, You are my GREAT HIGH PRIEST.  My advocate, champion, friend.  You passed through the heavens to come to earth to live as a man.   Jesus, You can sympathize with my weaknesses,  because You have walked this earth.  You were tempted just like I am - yet You never sinned.   Jesus I can come confidently, not with insecurity or fear, to Your throne of grace, and I can receive mercy and grace to help me when I am in need.   Jesus, You are not a GREAT HIGH PRIEST who is unapproachable, but One who cares for my every need and longs for me to come to You.   Jesus, at times I am afraid to come to You and be honest about my weaknesses but You are not judging me, You have already paid for my sins.   You have already paid my debt.  You tell me that You understand, that You can sympathize with my weaknesses - because You were tempted like me - yet You never sinned.   You are not surprised at my weaknesses - You died for them.  You are the One who waits for me to come to You to find grace and mercy in my time of need.      You want me to live in Your Gospel - the truth that my debt is already paid.  Oh Jesus, what a beautiful picture of coming confidently to Your throne - sitting with You as You sympathize with my weaknesses - yet giving mercy and grace when I need it.  This is why You passed through the heavens - to pay for my sin that I might know You personally.   I worship You Jesus for being my GREAT HIGH PRIEST!!
