#89 SON OF THE MOST HIGH - "In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!" But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the SON OF THE MOST HIGH: and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end." Jesus, You are the SON OF THE MOST HIGH!! The MOST HIGH was a term used for God in the Old Testament (Num. 24:16). Mary knew exactly what Gabriel meant when he said "SON OF THE MOST HIGH". SON meant he would be a "carbon copy" or "one who possessed his father's qualities". She knew that Gabriel meant her child would be EQUAL to GOD and that He was referring to the Messiah who was to come! Such astonishing words - but I have heard this so often at Christmas that the words lose their meaning. An angel was SENT from God to Mary to tell her that she would be the mother of a child who would be the Messiah! This moment changed Mary's life forever - and my life also - because "His kingdom will have no end!" This is why You came - to provide a way for me to live with You forever in Your kingdom which has no end! I tend to look at this world - and the tragedies and suffering that is all around me - but You came to provide a way for me to live with You forever - beyond this broken world. Oh Jesus, open my eyes this Christmas to see what You truly did by coming to earth - to provide a way for us to live with You forever! I worship You, Jesus - the SON OF THE MOST HIGH!
