40 DAYS WITH JESUS

#4  ANOINTED  "And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.  And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him.  And He opened the book, and found the place where it was written, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He ANOINTED Me to preach the Gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the  blind, to set free those who are downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.  And He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon Him.  And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."  Luke 4:16-22

 DEFINITION OF ANOINTED

: to officially or formally choose (someone) to do or to be something

Jesus, You are the ANOINTED!!  You were chosen for a very specific purpose!   After You were baptized by John and had been tempted in the wilderness, You came to Nazareth to teach in the temple.  You read the scripture and then proclaimed that You were the fulfillment of the prophesy in Isaiah 61 of the Messiah (ANOINTED ONE) who was to come!!    You would RELEASE those who were captive to sin, GIVE SIGHT to those who were blind physically and spiritually and give HOPE to those who were downtrodden.  You are the HOPE of this world!   My Jesus, You didn't come just to teach - but to provide RELEASE and RECOVERY and to set me FREE!  You knew about the things that hold me captive - my sin, my guilt and my shame.  You came to set me FREE! This is WHY You died!    Because of Your love - You provide RELEASE, RECOVERY and SET THE DOWNTRODDEN FREE!  Such words of hope and compassion!!   This is the beginning of Your ministry - You came to change everything!!

(What sin is holding you captive today through guilt and shame?  Thank Him and worship Him for being the ANOINTED, the One who died to set you FREE!!)#40dayswithjesus
