#20 DESPISED

40 DAYS WITH JESUS

#20   DESPISED   "He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.  He was DESPISED and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and like one from whom men hide their face, He was DESPISED and we did not esteem Him."  Isaiah 53:2-3

 Definition of DESPISE

: to dislike someone very much :  to look down on with contempt or aversion :  to regard as negligible, worthless, or distasteful

Jesus, You who are the ALL-POWERFUL, ALL-KNOWING, KING OF KINGS, were DESPISED by men.   You humbled Yourself to come to earth, to be DESPISED by men.  You were regarded as negligible, worthless and distasteful.  How can this be?  How could You have allowed Yourself to endure the contempt of man, to be acquainted with grief and hatred? You did it for me.  Hebrews 12:2 says that You "ENDURED the cross, DESPISING the shame - for the JOY that was set before You."  This is why You allowed Yourself to be DESPISED and REJECTED by man - because of Your love for me and for the world.  This was the only way that You could pay for my sin.  You lived the life that I could not live and died the death that I should have died.  It was the great exchange - "For our sake He made Him TO BE SIN who KNEW NO SIN, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Cor. 5:21) You did this to set me free!!  Oh Jesus, as I watch You endure the cross and the cruelty of man - may it sear into my heart the TRUTH of Your love for me.  You did it for the JOY set before You - that JOY was a relationship with me and the world.  Oh thank You Jesus.  I fall down before You for what You endured to make a way to know me.

(When do you question His love and commitment to you?  Remember that He was DESPISED for you as He walked this earth. Worship and praise Jesus today!!! )#40dayswithjesus
