#8 DESCENDANT

"When your days are complete and you lie down with your father, I will raise up your DESCENDANT after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom."  "And your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever."  2 Samuel 7:12, 16

"He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end."  Luke 1:32-33

Definition of DESCENDANT

:  proceeding from an ancestor or source

Jesus, You are the promised DESCENDANT of the line of David!  You are the One who would establish Your kingdom forever.  "The promise that He made to David in 2 Samuel 7:12-16 was an extension of the promise to Abraham (Gen 7:16).    His house and kingdom would last forever (v. 16)  This is certainly a reference to the continuance of the Kingdom of God through Christ who was to be the DESCENDANT of the house of David (Lk 1:31-33).  Eventually this referred to Jesus Christ, the promised DESCENDANT OF DAVID who occupies the eternal throne as God's Son." (Hebrew Greek Key Study Bible) Jesus, I stand in awe of You today as I see Your hand and Your plan throughout the ages!  You, Jesus, are the fulfillment of this plan!     A Savior who would be born through the line of David!  As I studied this today - I realized that You are working out Your plan!  This is such a comfort to me, Jesus.  Your Word is alive - and all of Scripture points to YOU!!
