#76  RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE  -  "Martha therefore said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died, even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."   Jesus said to her, "Your brother shall rise again."  Martha said to Him,  "I know that he will rise again in the RESURRECTION on the last day."  Jesus said to her, "I am the RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die.  Do you believe this?"  She said to Him, "Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world."  John 11:21-27

: the experience of being alive

Jesus, You are the RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE!  You are rebirth, renewal, and revitalization now!  RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE is not just an event that will happen on the last day - You ARE the RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE.  You are saying that You ARE the power that gives LIFE and keeps everything ALIVE!  You have the power over death and life!  This is a claim of diety!    You claim to have power over life and death - and then You proceed to PROVE that You ARE the RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE by raising Lazarus from the dead!   Only God - the One who holds life and death in His hands - can raise someone from the dead.    I can imagine Jesus looking Martha in the eyes and asking her the penetrating question "Do you believe this?"  Faced with really difficult situations, my belief is put to the test.  I think You would ask me the same thing - "Do you believe this?   Do you believe that new birth begins in Me on this earth?  Do you believe that you will live, even if you die, eternally with Me?"   Yes, Jesus - You have given me the faith to believe.  You have proved to me that You alone have the power over life and death!    I worship You - the One who holds LIFE in Your  hands!
