Day #23 - EXPECTED ONE

"Now when John in prison heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples, and said to Him, "Are You the EXPECTED ONE, or shall we look for someone else?"  And Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you hear and see; the blind receive sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have the Gospel preached to them.  And blessed is he who keeps from stumbling over Me."   Matthew 11:3-6

Jesus, You are the EXPECTED ONE.  This was another name for the Messiah - whom John the Baptist had preached would come.    He had even baptized You as the EXPECTED ONE, but now he is in prison and he is doubting that You are the One he was looking for.   Things have not gone as John anticipated - and now he is having doubts.  Jesus, when I see tragedy and things that don't line up with who I expect You to be, I can be filled with doubt.  But You are the One who gave sight to the blind and made the lame walk and healed the lepers and made people hear and raised the dead and preached hope through the Gospel to the poor!!  Who You are was proven as You walked on this earth through the miracles You performed.  You were patient with John and You are patient with Me.  You gently remind me of all that You have done for me.   You did not reprimand him  - but pointed him to Yourself.  You are the proof of who You are.  Let me see You for who You are -  regardless of what is going on around me.  You didn't do it the way the Jews expected - they wanted You to free them and set up an earthly kingdom   But You had a much greater plan - to provide salvation and freedom to the whole world forever and ever!!  You are always MORE than I expect.  Oh Jesus, increase my affection and trust in who You are.  You are the EXPECTED ONE - and You proved it through Your life.    I worship You Jesus - for coming to earth as the EXPECTED ONE!!!
