40 DAYS WITH JESUS

#18  OPPOSED   "So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the Council and said "What are we to do?  For this man performs many signs.  If we let Him go on like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation."  But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all.  Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish."  He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.  So from that day on they made PLANS TO PUT HIM TO DEATH."  John 11:47-53

Definition of OPPOSED

: to disagree with or disapprove of  someone  : to try to stop or defeat something

Jesus, You were OPPOSED!  After You raised Lazarus from the grave, there were two responses. Many believed in You - but some of them OPPOSED You and went to the Pharisees and reported what You had done.  The leaders wanted to kill You because they feared that everyone would believe in You and Rome would take away their place and their nation.  Caiaphas was saying that Jesus must be sacrificed for the people.   He didn't even realize that he was pointing to the last sacrificial LAMB who would be our substitutionary atonement for all of our sin!  Jesus, You would die for all the people of the world!  There can only be two responses to You, Jesus!  Either I believe in You as the Son of God - or I OPPOSE You.  Oh Jesus, I believe that You are the LAMB OF GOD who takes away the sin of the world!  I worship You Jesus for sacrificing Your life for me!!

(What is YOUR response to Jesus?  Worship Him, the One who was OPPOSED!!)#40dayswithjesus
