WORSHIP JESUS

40 DAYS WITH JESUS

Jesus KNEW He was going to Jerusalem to DIE. He KNEW.

A few years ago, I read these words, “Does it make you weep to think about what Jesus did for you?” I honestly admitted “No, not really." I had heard about it all my life – and had become almost callous to it. I realized that the truth of Jesus’ death had become just that – a truth, but not a reality. I didn’t emotionally experience it – or feel the weight of what He had done for me.

But as I began to study His names – I realized that Jesus KNEW that He would suffer. When I know that I have to undergo surgery or have a doctor's appointment ahead of me – it weighs on me. It just kind of hangs over my head like a dark cloud. But Jesus KNEW that He would die the most horrible death ever invented – and He KNEW that His Father would turn His face away from Him. As I study His names, each name points to His sacrifice. Each name tells of His laying down His life for me. I am beginning to understand what Jesus must have experienced - KNOWING He would die.

My mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s when she was 40. She suffered from this disease for 37 years. She had medication that would help the tremors, but when it wore off, she would tremble and shake and was unable to control her muscles.

One day, after a medical procedure I had, the anesthesia the doctor administered to me was wearing off and it left me trembling. I realized that I was experiencing the uncontrollable tremors in my body just like my Mom. I was experiencing the suffering that my precious Mom experienced everyday. It gave me more of an understanding of what she was going through daily. Only mine was temporary. Hers was uncureable. But as I “entered into her suffering" I understood her at a different level than before.

As you study Jesus' walk to the cross, allow yourself to "enter into His suffering." To understand at an emotional level what He experienced. Allow yourself to weep as you think about His suffering and death. Allow yourself to wait in anticipation for His resurrection!

Tag your friends and family to join you and me as we walk with Jesus for only 18 more days to His Resurrection!! IT'S ALL ABOUT JESUS!! #40dayswithjesus
