#35 GUILT OFFERING
40 DAYS WITH JESUS
#35 GUILT OFFERING "But the LORD was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; if He would render Himself as a GUILT OFFERING, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, as He will bear their iniquities." Isaiah 53:10
Definition of GUILT
: responsibility for a crime or for doing something bad or wrong : a bad feeling caused by knowing or thinking that you have done something bad or wrong
Definition of OFFERING
: the act of one who offers; that which is presented in divine service, presented to God as an atonement for sin
Jesus, You were the OFFERING for my GUILT. Isaiah says that it was the Lord's will to crush You - for my sin. What kind of love is this? A love that would suffer and bear the weight of my sin for me. It says that my sin was placed on You and You bore my iniquities. Jesus, as I think about what You did for me - I am amazed. You allowed the responsibility for my sin to be placed on You - and then You died instead of me. You who had no sin - became sin in my place. My sin is paid for - and I am set free. Jesus, I am undeserving and unworthy - and yet You loved me so much that You endured the cross for me. Jesus, as I enter this week of Your suffering, I bow before You in thankfulness for all that You suffered to set me free. You alone are worthy of my praise and worship!!
It is hard to talk about my own guilt. If someone were to play my life on a screen, my guilt would be evident. It is easy to hide my sin from others - but You see it all. You know my heart. You know that I am guilty. And so instead of condemning me, You paid the penalty for my sin. Like a Judge coming down and paying the sentence for a guilty convict - You paid for my sin. You stood in my place. I am free - but it cost You Your life.
(When do you question whether Jesus loves you or not? He loves you so much that He paid for your sin! Worship and thank Him - your GUILT OFFERING!)#40dayswithjesus
