#33 MOCKED

40 DAYS WITH JESUS

#33  MOCKED  "Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole Roman cohort around Him.  And they stripped Him, and put a scarlet robe on Him.  And after weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and they kneeled down before Him and MOCKED Him, saying "Hail, King of the Jews!"  And they spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head.  And after they had MOCKED Him, they took His robe off and put His garments on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him."  Matthew 27:27-31

Definition of MOCKED

: to laugh at or make fun of someone or something especially by copying an action or a way of behaving or speaking  : to criticize and laugh at someone or something for being bad, worthless, or unimportant:

Oh Jesus, my response is horror and unbelief.   You were MOCKED by the Roman cohort - probably 150-200 soldiers.  They knelt down before You and called you the "KING of the Jews" - when in reality, You ARE.  They began to spit on You and to beat You on the head with the reed they had given You.  But what was Your response to this MOCKERY?  You could have called down angels to DESTROY them - You could have DEMANDED that they worship You for who You really are -  but Your only response for this MOCKERY and Your crucifixion was "Father, FORGIVE THEM; for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34)  What kind of love is this that can FORGIVE people who treat You this way?  Only a DIVINE love - only a love that is greater than anything I can imagine.  Oh Jesus, You LOVED them and FORGAVE them.  INCOMPREHENSIBLE.

(Have you accepted this love that was given for you?  Worship Jesus - who was MOCKED for you!)#40dayswithjesus
