DAY #25 - FRIEND

"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his FRIENDS."   John 15:13

Full Definition of FRIEND

1  :  one attached to another by affection or esteem

Jesus, You are my FRIEND. You are saying that there is no amount of love that is greater than the love a person has when he gives away his life for someone else.  When my children were born, tiny and helpless, I remember thinking that I would gladly give my life them.  They didn't earn it, they didn't change in some way to deserve it, they were simply mine - and my love for them is so strong, that I would gladly lay down my life for them.  You are telling me that You love me in the same way.  You love me so much that You gave Your life away for me.  I did nothing to deserve it or earn it.  This was the reason You came to earth.  This was the reason You were born.  To die for Your friends.  To die for me.  You knew this Your whole life - that You would lay down Your life for me.  You died in my place.  You paid my debt - so that I might be forgiven.  It was a free gift to me - "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Eph 2:8-9) - but it cost You Your life.    There is no greater love than this.   This love is so strong, so powerful, so real - that it changes my life.  This kind of love makes me weep, amazes me and changes me - that You gave away Your life to come after me, to rescue me, to love me.   It makes me want to give my all in return to You.  I worship You Jesus - my FRIEND.
