#15 WISE

40 DAYS WITH JESUS

#15 WISE   "And when He had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him as He was teaching, and said "By what AUTHORITY are You doing these things, and who gave You this AUTHORITY?"  And Jesus answered and said to them,  "I will ask you one thing too, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what AUTHORITY I do these things."  "The baptism of John was from what source, from HEAVEN or from men?"  And they began reasoning among themselves, saying "If we say, 'From HEAVEN.' He will say to us, "Then why did you not believe him?" "But if we say, 'From men,' we fear the multitude; for they all hold John to be a prophet."  And answering Jesus, they said "WE DO NOT KNOW."  He also said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what AUTHORITY I do these things."  Matthew 21:23-27

 Definition of WISE
 :  characterized by wisdom :  marked by deep understanding, keen discernment, and a capacity for sound judgment

Jesus, You are so WISE!!  You have deep understanding, discernment and sound judgment that we cannot even comprehend!!  Over and over the leaders tried to trap and test You.  But You are so WISE!  You would TURN THE QUESTION BACK TO THEM - and TRAP THEM in their own TRICK!  Their refusal to answer Your question showed their dishonesty and their lack of understanding who You were!  They didn't know whether John the Baptist was from God or whether You were from God.  Jesus, You are unbelievably WISE - and You tell us to ask for WISDOM from You! (James 1:5)!  You will give it to us generously and You don't want anyone to hesitate to come to You!  So often, I try to figure things out for myself, instead of coming to You and asking for WISDOM!! I can trust You Jesus - You are WISE!!!  "Oh the DEPTH of the riches and WISDOM and knowledge of God!" Romans 11:33!!
