#26  BETRAYED   "Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests, and said, "What are you willing to give me to deliver Him up to you?"  And they weighed out to him thirty pieces of silver.  And from then on he began looking for a good opportunity to BETRAY Him."  Matt. 26:14   "While He was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people.  Now the BETRAYER had given them a sign, saying "The one I will kiss is the man; seize him."  And he came up to Jesus at once and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!"  And he kissed him.  Jesus said to him, "FRIEND, do what you came to do."  Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him."  Matthew 26:47-50 

 Definition of BETRAY

: to give information about a person, group, country, etc. to an enemy

: to hurt someone who trusts you, such as a friend or relative by not giving help or by doing something morally wrong

Jesus, You were BETRAYED.  You were deeply hurt by one of your twelve disciples - who BETRAYED You and even received money for it.  You understand what it feels like to be hurt by someone that You should have been able to trust.  You knew that he would BETRAY You - and You still loved him.  To be BETRAYED by a friend is one of the deepest wounds a person can receive.  But, You still called him FRIEND.  Jesus, I am continually amazed at Your love and forgiveness.  You don't love me because I deserve it or have earned it.  You love me just as I am - and You took my place at the cross.  You knew You would be BETRAYED - and yet You willingly laid down Your life.   I worship You Jesus - the One who was BETRAYED!!
