#27 ARRESTED

40 DAYS WITH JESUS

#27   ARRESTED  "And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.  Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place.  For all who take the sword will perish by the sword.  Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and He will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?  But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?"  At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to ARREST me?  Day after day I sat in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me.  But all this has taken place that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples left him and fled."  Matthew 26:52-56

Definition of ARRESTED

: to use the power of the law to take and keep someone, such as a criminal

Jesus, You were ARRESTED like a criminal.  They came in the middle of the night with swords and clubs to ARREST You - although You taught in the temple everyday.   Your disciples wanted to resist - but it says in Luke 22:50-51 "And a certain one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.  But Jesus answered and said, "Stop!  No more of this." And He touched his ear and HEALED him."  You, who were the KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS, knew that You could have called on an army of angels to defend You, if You wanted to resist.  But You didn't.  You knew that this was Your purpose - this was WHY You came.  To pay the penalty for my sin by giving Your life on the cross.  Jesus, thank You for what You endured - being ARRESTED as a criminal to pay my debt.  I humbly bow and worship You, my Jesus.

(Have you considered what Jesus endured to pay your debt?  Worship Jesus - the One who was ARRESTED as a criminal to pay our debt!)#40dayswithjesus
