#38 - I AM

"So the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?"  Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."  So they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple."  John 8:57-59

Definition of AM

:to be, exist, have existence or being

Jesus, You are the great I AM.  You are the One who has always existed.  You are equal with God.  You told the Jews that You were alive before Abraham.  You were claiming that You have always existed - which would make you equal with God.  You were also saying that You were eternal and were the God who appeared to Moses at the burning bush  (Ex. 3:14).  When You made this statement - the Jews knew exactly what You meant, they knew that You were claiming to be God.  Because of this, they picked up stones to throw at You for blasphemy.  Jesus, You spoke the truth.   The truth is that You, I AM, who has existed for all time, became a man and lived on earth.  You had one purpose - to pay the penalty for our sin.  To redeem us back to God.  The Jews did not believe that You were who You said You were.  Every person has to decide for himself if You were telling the truth.  Jesus, I believe that You are God and the miracles that You    performed on earth were the proof  (John 10:25).   You have always existed before and You will always exist in the future.  The truth of this gives me great security - knowing that You have always existed and that You always will exist.  Thank you for being I AM - and for coming to earth as a man to pay for my sin.    I worship You Jesus for being I AM!!!
